Mower was submerged in Hurricane Matthew
Total detach, clean out h2o and any rust. strop cylinder, wire brush where needed,reassemble with new rings,gaskets and seals and lucas oil product. Started on second pull. Mowed lawn. If you have never done this sort of work before, probably should not attempt.

starter rewind string broke
I plant the model number of the Briggs & Stratton engine on the inside of the engine housing. Ordered a new starter-rewind unit, as the old string broke and the affair was well worn. The instructions were clear enough, merely to get the erstwhile starter off I had to drill out iv rivets, which but spin around when you lot try. I used a hacksaw, chisel, pliers, whatever worked on each rivet; this took a while. When they were finally removed, the new starter pull unit was relatively easy to install with the small basics and bolts provided. On the Yard Machines log splitter, putting back the engine housing is quite tricky; y'all have to jostle the thing into place, go the pull handle to a higher place the embrace and line upward the commodities holes.

Leaking gaskets
All the gaskets needed to be replaced on the Briggs 6.75 flathead I was rebuilding. I ported and polished the ports and shaved the eyebrow between the valves and the piston. The gasket set was a perfect fit. It is a monster now. Information technology doesn't sound like a lawnmower engine anymore
